It’s officially coat season ya’ll! Even though I love warm weather, I love fall and winter fashion even more. There’s just something about dressing in layers, hoodies, and coats for me! Emphasis on the coats. Coats are a huge part of fall and winter fashion and are just as important as the outfit underneath in my opinion. Today I’m sharing 6 coats that should be a part of your wardrobe and I’m also showing you how I rock them!
The Trench Coat
The classic and ever so timeless trench coat will forever be one of my favorite coats. The versatility of the trench coat is unmatched and it can seamlessly be transitioned from fall to winter to spring.
The Leather Jacket
If I could only pick one of these coats from this list it would hands down be the leather jacket. The moto leather jacket to be exact. A leather jacket can instantly elevate the look of a plain t-shirt and jeans or dress down your favorite slip dress. They are also great for layering when the weather gets colder. My favorite way to layer my leather moto jacket is with a hoodie or turtleneck underneath.
The Statement Coat
Now this one may sound a bit vague but that’s the whole point. A statement coat is the coat you wear when you want to get noticed, the one that enters the room before you do and is sure to leave a lasting impression. It can be as subtle or as “POW” as you want it to be. I chose a subtle statement coat or shacket to show you. Expect to see shackets all over the place this fall and winter. Confused? Well, Melissa Chanel has an excellent blog about the shacket wave here.
The Overcoat
The overcoat is another versatile and timeless piece. Any way you want them you can find them whether it’s wool or cashmere, luxury or budget-friendly, tailored or oversized. I usually like mine to be a bit oversized but decided to purchase this one to fit more true to size.
The Denim Jacket
I can’t remember a time that I didn’t have at least one denim jacket in my wardrobe. I literally wear them until they are literally worn out and then immediately repurchase one. I’m currently in the market for a more oversized one.
The Puffer Coat
I’m new to the puffer coat gang but now that I’m here I’ll never go back to not having one. My line of work as a clinical research associate requires me to travel all over the US. After traveling to Minneapolis, Connecticut, and Wisconsin a few times I quickly realized my little NC coats were not going to cut it. I purchased this coat from The Gap last year and I love it! It’s so warm and cozy!
