About Me
Hi! I'm Erica
My name is Erica Britt and welcome to my blog! I was born and raised in a small town located in eastern North Carolina. Currently I reside in Charlotte, NC and work full time in the clinical research industry.
My blog was started as a creative way to express myself as well as a way to mesh all of the things that are near and dear to my heart. As a little girl I had a lot of big feelings and if I’m completely honest a big mouth. I loved to talk and that sometimes got me in trouble at home and at school. So, I would often turn to writing as a way to get those feelings out on paper and to keep myself out of trouble. I wrote everything and everybody. I wrote in my diary, wrote letters to friends & boyfriends, made homemade cards, and wrote plays. I even wrote a letter to the President of the United States at the age of 6 to kindly let him know we shared the same birthday. I’m pretty sure I still have the letter that I received back from The White House.
Besides writing, I’ve also been obsessed with clothes ever since I was a little girl and if you ever had the privilege of meeting my late grandmother’s, Ella and Susie you’d be convinced that this love for fashion was actually in my DNA. My style is heavily influenced by my big brother who I idolized as a kid and from being an 80’s baby but a 90’s kid.
At a very young age, my Dad encouraged me to have my own style so I rarely worried about what other people were wearing and wore what made me feel good. The beginning of the school year was my absolute favorite time of the year because it meant back to school shopping. I would rack up on clothes and shoes and would plan out my outfits weeks in advance. I was always so excited to wear my new clothes that I could barely sleep at night. I was pretty much done with the school year once I had worn all of my new clothes and shoes but for some reason my parents made me finish the school year.
In addition to being slightly obsessed with clothes I also loved getting my hair done. Going to the salon with my mom and Grandma on Saturday’s was something I always looked forward to (minus sitting under the dryer). To this day, I will still cry if my hair isn’t right. And no, if my hair isn’t right, I’m not going.
All of these loves led me here, to creating this blog. My hope is that when women visit this blog they feel empowered to unapologetically be themselves and boldly speak their truths, while looking and feeling good.
