So, you decided that you want to start collecting and wearing sneakers? Welcome! We’re so glad to have you. Before we get started I have to warn you that collecting sneakers is highly addictive. You don’t care either? Ok, perfect! Now that we got that out of the way let’s get into it shall we?
The number one question I get from people looking to start their sneaker collection is, “But where do I start?” It can honestly be overwhelming with all of the choices out there these days. So, my suggestion is to start with some of the classics. Today on the blog I am sharing six sneakers to get you started on your path to the good (and comfortable) life.
Adidas Superstar
The Adidas Superstar sneaker is the ultimate classic. I mean they literally became a permanent staple of Run DMC. They also happen to be one of my absolute faves. Seriously, I wear these ALL of the time and even have a fresh new pair on reserve so that I don’t miss a beat when they need to be replaced (which will be soon).
Nike Blazer Mid 77
The Nike Blazer Mid 77 is known for its clean and classic look. These are the perfect sneakers to dress up or down any outfit. I wear mine with everything from dresses, to jeans, to blazers, to slacks. The possibilities are literally endless.
Nike Jordan 1
These sneakers don’t really need any introduction. The Nike Air Jordan 1’s are probably the most coveted, sought after shoe out there. You have to own at least one pair. No for real you have to. Personally I don’t get caught up in the high vs mid debate and will cop either if I like the shoe. I will tell you that the highs can be extremely hard to get your hands on so I would recommend following sneaker pages like CNK daily or Sneaker News on Instagram to stay in the know on upcoming releases. May the Sneaker Gods be with you.
Nike Air Max
I probably own the most pairs of Air Max. I love the 97’s, 95’s, and 90’s the most. I feel like I’m back in middle school or high school when I wear Air Max. The color ways that these come in are sick! You can do no wrong by copping Air Max. Trust me.
Adidas Stan Smith
I got my first pair of Stan Smith’s last year and I love them. Green is my favorite color so I of course copped the white and green and I also have a white and yellow pair. Don’t let the green turn you off because they look amazing with just about anything. Don’t be afraid to have fun with them. They run big so you will definitely need to size down a size or maybe even a size and a half.
Nike Cortez
Do these look familiar? Think, “Run Forest, run!” These are none other than Forrest Gump’s running shoes! I mean I don’t think anything really needs to be said about these. If Forrest wore them, you should too.
